[UPDATE] Podcast audio:

From time to time we visit with pastors from various denominations which uphold the value of life and stand against legal abortion. This week I invited my pastor, Jonathan Schroeder to take a look at the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, WELS.

In February, 1973, just one month after abortion was made legal through the Roe v Wade decision at the Supreme Court, the WELS official magazine Northwestern Lutheran (now Forward in Christ) featured an article which read, “To approve of abortion as an expression of the right of a woman to have control over her body is not biblical. Neither man nor woman are masters of their own bodies. Both are responsible to God Himself for how they use them. . . . It is fervently hoped that no Christian woman will permit herself to be misled. Just because abortion may be legal, does not make it right.”

Since then the WELS has defined and refined their position on this question, arriving at the current statements and resolutions standing against abortion-on-demand and supporting pregnancy help through WELS Lutherans for Life.

Join us this week as Pastor Schroeder shares the gospel message at the heart of the issue of abortion on Cradle My Heart Radio.
