Cradle My Heart Radio replays our visit with Serrin Foster the week of May 29
We hope you have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. We will return with an all new episode the week of June 5.
Is it possible to be feminist and pro-life?
For some the answer is “yes, but” only if you support abortion rights. Yet even as the question of pro-life feminism is still being pondered by the next generation of women leaders, abortion was rejected by American feminists as being profoundly anti-woman, and that was two centuries ago. The earliest leaders of the drive for women’s rights were ardently pro-life. Feminists for Life is fulfilling their mission to revive and expand on that legacy on campuses today: to be feminist is to uphold three core values:
- justice for all.
These values were the hallmark of American feminists like Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul and many others. Their writings and other herstory is kept alive in the Feminist for Life archives.
As a woman who sorrowed over the abortion choice, I am grateful to Feminists for Life for sensitivity in telling our side of the story too. When presented with the facts about abortion, Feminists for Life is winning hearts and minds, even on liberal campuses such as Yale University, where young women are deciding for themselves that women deserve better.
FFL President Serrin Foster joins us on Cradle My Heart Radio with the details of that debate as well as campus outreach efforts to make abortion unthinkable and unnecessary.
