Discussing “Christian abortion,” baby drop boxes, and legal discrimination against US females on Cradle My Heart Radio

Beyond the bumper sticker
Should every Christian be pro-life on abortion?
I’ve argued here that the answer is yes. And that’s the position of my fellow Life Training Institute pro-life apologist Daniel Rodger writing for Premier Christianity.
Rodger argues from four key ideas:
  • we are all equally bearers of God’s image
  • abortion is incompatible with being a Good Samaritan
  • abortion today is the moral equivalent of child sacrifice in biblical times
  • science affirms the biblical prohibition against killing innocent human beings.
Let’s talk about it:
  • Do you agree on a Christian imperative to reject abortion?
  • Some abortion providers say they are motivated by Christian love. What does your faith tell you?

Safe haven laws exist in all 50 states making it legal to drop babies at hospitals and fire stations.

But many desperate young moms aren’t aware of so-called Baby Moses laws which allow them to remain anonymous while placing their child in the safety of care. And many fear any face-to-face encounter which could later identify them as the mother of the child.

Firefighters and others in Indiana are now working to facilitate the exchange with a baby drop box featuring prominent signs designating the service.
Critics say safe haven laws exploit young women and endanger their health. Others are concerned that the newborns deserve to have a record of the basic facts of their lives, including access to health history, such as would be available with a formal adoption process.
Let’s talk about it:
  • Are safe haven laws dangerous to women?
  • Or is saving at-risk newborns the overriding need?
Perfectly legal discrimination against females and the disabled in the US
lightstock_15736_medium_kim_ketolaIndiana’s new law bans abortions based on sex or disability.
The risk is real.
Many ethnic communities in the US seek abortions of female fetuses; and as many as 40% of fetuses with non-fatal genetic conditions like Down syndrome face abortion annually.
The law is being challenged before it takes effect in July. Those opposed to it say the government should not intrude on the conversations between a woman her provider in these cases. Nor should a woman be restricted from freely making choices at any point during her pregnancy for any reason.
Let’s talk about it:
  • Did you know about the risk of legal discrimination against preborn females and the disabled?
  • And does the state have an interest in protecting these children before they are born?
