Grandparents grieving abortion – Janet Morana on Cradle My Heart Radio

Cradle My Heart Radio  welcomes Janet Morana of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign on January 18 at 9:30 pm ET

Recently a group invited me to speak for a Sanctity of Life event. The host explained that, of course, the group was mostly past the childbearing years, but asked if I would please come and speak anyway.

What he and so many others fail to realize is the fact that so many abortion decisions are driven by the expectant grandparents. Parents become desperate to save their daughters and sons from a pregnancy they perceive as a threat to reputation, education, prosperity, etc. of their offspring. In the aftermath there is a great deal that must be healed.

Our guest on Cradle My Heart Radio this week will address the need in the hearts of grieving grandparents–whether they pressed for the abortion, or whether they weren’t given a chance to save the child’s life–who must somehow come to terms with their family’s lost child.

When we launched Cradle My Heart Radio in 2012, a large part of our mission and vision was to create a safe space to share our stories. Now helping us fulfill that mission is our partnership with the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. The Campaign helps women and men prepare to speak out in safety for the benefit of others.

This week we welcome back Janet Morana, Co-Founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. Janet will share her story of family loss and SNM’s new hope-filled new outreach Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion.

The premise of Shockwaves is that every abortion impacts many other individuals beyond the artificially private circle of “a woman and her doctor.”

Guilt and grief become part of the experience of those who know the couple involved: friends and roommates who provide money or transportation, parents and siblings who are brought into the decision, clinic workers, and many others will continue to need healing until the abortion experience of each one has been reconciled spiritually, emotionally and relationally.

From Janet’s bio:

Janet A. Morana serves as the Executive Director of Priests for Life and the Co-Founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, the world’s largest mobilization of women and men who have lost children to abortion. She formerly served on the board of the Staten Island Right to Life Committee. She ran for the New York City Council on the Right-to-Life Line and received the largest percentage of votes of any Right to Life candidate in the Party’s history.

She is featured on Defending Life, and Co-hosts The Catholic View for Women on EWTN. She is a weekly guest on EWTN Global Catholic Radio with Teresa Tomeo, has appeared on Fox News Channel and numerous other media outlets. In 2003 she addressed the Pro-Life Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives on life issues. In 2009 the international Legatus organization bestowed upon her the Cardinal John O’Connor Pro-life Hall of Fame Award. She is the author of Recall Abortion published by Saint Benedict Press in 2013.
