Cradle My Heart Radio welcomes counselor Trudy Johnson on January 4 at 9 pm ET
One of the most important steps we can take to finding spiritual health after abortion is to tell the story of what happened to us. But many of us are stopped cold by the very word “abortion.”
Trudy Johnson’s approach removes that emotionally loaded word and replaces it with a text-message style shorthand, “vpt” which stands for voluntary pregnancy termination. The value of this change in language is not in obscuring reality nor denying our accountability in the deaths of our children. Instead, the more neutral language opens the door to process the experience and resolve the grief and guilt.
Johnson is a professional counselor who is now training others to “take post-abortion counseling into the twenty-first century.” Her model includes eTherapy and skype counseling sessions. Trudy is also the author of CPR, Choice Processing and Resolution.
If you have been through a post-abortion Bible study and you still have lingering problems, or if you have just now started the journey back to peace after abortion, I think you’ll find this discussion helpful and encouraging.
From Trudy’s bio:
Trudy M. Johnson, MA, LMFT, CSP Master Level
Working with many women through brief intensive therapy, Trudy began to understand the extent of brokenness the women in our culture are experiencing because of past trauma and unresolved grief. Trudy started Missing Pieces.Org in her passion to reach out to hurting women, especially those needing to grieve the losses of life, including voluntary pregnancy terminations.
In 2004, Trudy created the first training curriculum to help pastoral counselors understand the aftermath of abortion in the Christian Community. This curriculum is now a course at Master’s International School of Divinity.
In 2005, Trudy created the first training curriculum to help therapists and medical personnel understand the aftermath of abortion for women clients and patients. She presented this curriculum to the staff at Remuda Ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona and also St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
In 2012, Trudy presented a Learning Institute at The American Counseling Association annual convention. This Learning Institute presentation is now a 6 CEU online course offered by ACA.
Plan now to listen this Sunday and join us as we welcome this truth-teller and hero of the faith.
